Foley on Woods

Sean Foley spoke with the NY Times on how many majors his new student would win.

"It's not a function of if he will break Jack's records, it's a matter of when," Foley told the Times. "Tiger is only 34. He's got basically 12 more years, and that's 48 more majors to win four [to tie Nicklaus]. I don't know how many majors he will win, but it's definitely more than 18.

"I'll go with 22 or 23."

I agree. Perfect logic.

British media member tries to bait Woods

British media member to Tiger Woods at his Tuesday press conference:

"You don't win majors anymore, you don't win regular tournaments anymore and you are about to be deposed by Europeans as the world No. 1 or by Phil Mickelson. Where is the Ryder Cup now on your agenda now that you're an ordinary golfer?"

"I remember, you're the same one at the British Open who asked me that, too," Woods said, forcing a smile. "I hope you're having a good week."

As a U.S. fan, I hope to see many, many Tiger fist pumps this week in Wales.

Tiger vs. Rory

It's not exactly major trash talk but for golf at least it's something.

Rory McIlroy had this to say a few weeks back about Woods.

"Unless his game rapidly improves," McIlroy said, "I think anyone in the European team would fancy their chances against him."

Asked what he thought of taking on McIlroy, Woods simply said "Me too", which in Tiger speak means, I can't wait for the opportunity to shut any of these Europeans up.

It would be great to see a Tiger vs. McIlroy or Tiger vs. Poulter match on Sunday.

Fed Ex Cup Championship Betting Odds

With $10 million up for grabs this weekend, the top 30 players in the Fed Ex Cup point standings will tee it up at The Tour Championship in Georgia.

Here is what needs to happen for each player:

1. Phil Mickelson 7/1

Phil needs to win, have Matt Kuchar finish out of the top four, Dustin Johnson finish out of the top three, and have Charley Hoffman and Steve Stricker not finish second; if Paul Casey finishes second, Casey and Mickelson would go to a playoff for the FedExCup championship and the $10 million.

2. Steve Stricker 9/1

Stricker will win FedExCup if he wins The Tour Championship; could finish as low as third and still win FedExCup.

3. Dustin Johnson 9/1

Will win FedExCup if he wins The Tour Championship; could finish as low as sixth and still win FedExCup..

4. Matt Kuchar 10/1

Will win FedExCup if he wins The Tour Championship; could finish as low as 29th and still win FedExCup.

5. Paul Casey 14/1

Will win FedExCup if he wins The Tour Championship; could finish second and still win FedExCup.
