Atlanta Athletic Club to feature difficult 260 yard par-3 15th
Atlanta Athletic Club is expected to play long and difficult this year for the PGA Championship. The course is 7,467 yards and features many difficult holes, including the par-3 15th, which is expected to play 260 yards on certain days.
The last time the PGA Championship was held at this venue, winner David Toms drained a hole in one at the 15th. At the time, the hole was 243 yards and he used a 5-wood. Toms was asked about his strategy this year as the hole as been lengthened.
"If it's into the wind, maybe driver, but you don't want to hit that club there because there is so much trouble around the greens," Toms said. "The course is much, much longer than in 2001, and because of that extra yardage, you'll be hitting longer clubs into the greens, and you won't be able to hold the greens on some shots."
